Doratoon User guide

How to use Doratoon? Check below step by step.

Working with the Timeline

As with any other full-fledged animation creation software, even Doratoon follows the Timeline approach that enables you to specify the duration of the scene pages, define when an object should appear on the screen, arrange the sequence of appearing of the elements, set the visibility tenure of the elements, and much more.

The step-by-step instructions given below teach how you can get all this done in Doratoon:

Increase/Decrease Scene Page Length (Duration)

Step 1: Start a New Project with Blank Scene Page

Go to the https://www.doratoon.com/workbench/discover link, click Create a new video from the upper area of the navigation pane on the left, and click to choose a canvas type on the box that pops up next to start a new project.

Step 2: Confirm the Availability of the Scene Page

On the project window, make sure that Scene is selected in the toolbox on the left, and at least one scene page is present in the center pane.

Step 3: Increase or Decrease the Scene Page Length (Duration)

Click the + button present at the right-most end of the Timeline at the bottom to increase the length of the scene page. Likewise, click the  button to decrease the length.

Define Entry and Exit Time of an Object

Step 1: Position the Skimmer (Triangle)

Place the Blue triangle on the frame in the Timeline you want the object to become visible from.

Step 2: Add the Object

Use the toolbox present on the left to add your preferred object to the Canvas.

Step 3: Adjust Entry Time

Make sure that the object you added to the Canvas in the previous step is selected, and drag the left Black line in the Timeline towards the Blue triangle to set the entry time of the object. To set the exit time, drag the right Black line to the left or right to decrease or increase the duration of its visibility. The object exits the scene when the Skimmer reaches this right Black line. Once you have set the entry and exit timings, click the Play button below the Canvas to see if everything looks acceptable.

Set Entry Order (In Case of Multiple Objects)

Step 1: Add a Second Object

Use the method explained above to add another object to the Canvas.

Step 2: Set Visibility Tenure

Use the method explained above to define for how long the object should remain visible on the screen.

Step 3: Set Entry Order

Make sure that the object you want to set an entry order for is selected on the Canvas. Then, click and drag the Star icon from the Timeline to the left or right ensuring that its left Black line stays before or after the left Black line of the previous object. If the left Black line of the selected object is before the left Black line of the previous object, the currently selected object will appear first. Likewise, if the left Black line is after the left Black line of the previous object, the currently selected object will appear after the previous object.

The same is the case with the right Black line. If the right Black line of the first object is before or after that of the second object, the first object will exit the screen first or later respectively.

However, if need be, after setting the entry order, you can drag the right Black lines of the objects to adjust their visibility tenure on the screen.

Note: After selecting an object on the Canvas, you can even click the Star in the Timeline to add or modify the animation effects to the object.
